Registration

A virtual run is a race that can be run – or even walked – from anywhere and at any time. You can carry this out on a road, on a stadium track or at MacRitchie Reservoir. You run at your own pace, at a time of your choosing and record your own time.

There are no age restrictions. However, all participants below the age of 18 years are required to seek parental/guardian consent to participate in the race. Relevant indemnity and declaration fields must be completed at the point of registration – failing which, the Organiser reserves the right to refuse registration to the participant or to nullify the participant’s race entry without notice.

Promotions cannot be accumulated.

Yes, participants who donate S$50 and above will be eligible for 2.5 times tax deduction.

1. You will receive a confirmation email upon successful registration and payment on www.straitstimesrun.com

2. You will receive a confirmation email and in-app notification upon successful activation of your race entry on MOVE by LIV3LY App.

*Note: Participants would only be able to activate their race entry on MOVE by LIV3LY App from October 5, 2020 onwards

Please allow up to 1 working day to receive your confirmation email. There are several reasons why you may not have received your confirmation email after this time period:

(1) Your registration was unsuccessful
(2) There could be an error in the email used for the registration
(3) The confirmation email is blocked and/or treated as spam.

There are several reasons why you are unable to activate your race entry:

(1) You have not yet registered on www.straitstimesrun.com
(2) Your registration was unsuccessful
(3) On the race entry form, you have entered a different email from the one you registered with under the verification code field.

Yes, just drop us an email at info@straitstimesrun.com. An admin fee of S$10 may apply.

All race entries are non-refundable and non-transferable to any future events.

All race registrations are strictly non-transferable.

Virtual Run Mechanics

MOVE by LIV3LY App is the recommended distance tracking App for The Straits Times Virtual Run 2020.

Please follow the respective clock-in periods of both distances as stated below.

17.5KM: Between Oct 9, 0000 hours to Oct 23, 2359 hours
175KM: Between Oct 19, 0000 hours to Dec 17, 2359 hours

Any distance covered outside of the stipulated race period will not be considered.

Step 1: Registration & Payment on www.straitstimesrun.com
– Click here to register by Oct 4, 2359 hours.
– You will receive a confirmation email once you have registered successfully.

Step 2: Activation and Tracking on MOVE by LIV3LY App
– Click here for the step-by-step guide to activating your race entry and tracking your run
– Start tracking your progress from Oct 9, 0000 hours (17.5km runners) and Oct 19, 0000 hours (175KM runners).
– Once you have completed the virtual run, you will receive the e-certificate.
– Collection of your Finisher T-shirt and medals: You will be notified of the details for the physical collection within 30 days of the end of the applicable race periods.

For optimal performance with the MOVE by Liv3ly App, we recommend the following steps:
1. Ensure that your phone is updated to the following Operating System (OS):\
Android: V10 or later
Iphone: IOS 13 or later

Ensure that in your mobile phone settings, set Location Access for the MOVE by LIV3LY app to “Always Allow”. If it is not set to “Always Allow”, your phone will not be able to track the distance covered when it auto locks during your run.
Simply follow the steps below for both Apple and Android users:

Meanwhile, you may use your preferred tracking app to record your distance during the race period and upload the screenshots via the MOVE workout submission portal as proof of your race completion.

No. You can either run the entire distance at once or split the distance into different sessions. The only requirement is that you have to complete the entire distance within the stipulated race period.

Distances on treadmills will not be recorded on the MOVE by Liv3ly App as it uses GPS to track outdoor runs.

However, you may use your preferred tracking app to record your distance on the treadmill and upload the screenshots via the MOVE workout submission portal as proof of your race completion.

After completing your run, you may view your progress via the in-app notification. It will show your completed and remaining distances.

Yes, the app is able to detect if you are stationary or onboard a moving vehicle such as a car or a bicycle. In such cases, if the MOVE tracker is on, it will not include that particular distance travelled in the total recorded distance.

Upon completing the total distance (17.5KM or 175KM), you will receive an in-app notification as well as an e-certificate which will be sent to you via email.

Collection of Runner’s Entitlements

Please check your spam/junk folder. If you are unable to find it there, please email info@straitstimesrun.com and we will resend it to you.

You will receive the following:

– One limited-edition New Balance “NB” finisher’s tee worth S$49
– For 17.5km participants: One limited-edition finisher’s medal (2nd part of the trilogy series)
– For 175km participants: Two limited-edition finisher’s medals (2nd and 3rd part of the trilogy series)

You can opt to have the entitlements delivered to you (via local delivery) OR collect them in person (via appointment basis at Singapore Press Holdings’ News Centre).

You will receive an email by 13 November 2020 regarding the entitlements collection. Please submit your Entitlements Collection Form by 3pm on Sunday, 13 December 2020. Late submissions will not be entertained.

Delivery to a local postal code will cost you $12 a package. There will be an additional $3 surcharge for weekend delivery. Please click here for a list of no-go zones for delivery.

The size of the finisher’s tee you receive will be the same as what you indicated in your registration confirmation email. If you wish to exchange the finisher’s tee to another size, you may opt to collect the entitlements in person but sizes are subject to availability.

The delivery period will be from January 6-15, 2021 (excluding January 10).

You must bring along the following for verification purposes:

• Photo Identity Card (e.g. NRIC) or Passport
• The Straits Times Virtual Run 2020 Registration Confirmation Email
• The Straits Times Virtual Run 2020 Finisher Entitlements Collection Confirmation Email

Those collecting entitlements should come alone; admission to the collection area is only on an individual basis.

If you have no appointment or do not arrive during your expected appointment time, you may be turned away and told to return at a later date.

If you are not feeling well, please stay home and authorise a representative to collect the entitlements on your behalf.

If you are authorising a representative to pick up the entitlements on your behalf, the representative must bring along the following for verification purposes:

Letter of Authorisation
• Copy of Participant’s The Straits Times Virtual Run 2020 Registration Confirmation Email
• Copy of Participant’s The Straits Times Virtual Run 2020 Finisher Entitlements Collection Confirmation Email
• Representative’s Photo Identity Card (e.g. NRIC) or Passport

Organisers will not release the entitlements to representatives without the above mentioned supporting documents.

You may email your request to info@straitstimesrun.com. The delivery fees as well as any chargeable customs, taxes or import duties are to be borne by the recipient of the delivery.

We regret to inform you that any participants who do not complete the total registered distance within the race period will not be able to receive the finisher t-shirt and medal.
